I've had many names over the years: LaMichael Belfort, aka The Dubya, aka Young Cheddar Stacker, aka Beldiesel, aka Beldeezus, aka Moose.

But one name stuck more than others because in a past life I was, in fact... a rapper.

Playing instruments, making beats, and spitting bars.

And while the sweet, sweet rhymes of Beldeezy are lost in the ether of a misplaced hard drive, the name and spirit of Beldeezy still lives on.

Plus, on the off chance there's another Michael Belden, there's only one Beldeezy—so it's free internet real estate.

As a Christian, I believe everyone has been endowed with the seeds of greatness.

That you were created in God's image and have all the potential inside of you to do great things in the pursuit of glorifying Him and serving your fellow man.

There's plenty I've worked on, and plan to work on, but I've found that why I do anything at all comes from one place:

• "To influence others so that more people take initiative."

Because a lot of the time, even with all that greatness inside, people tend to get in their own way.

And all it takes is a little encouragement, a nudge, or a push (or even the occasional shove) to get things going.

If you're like me, you would have liked for someone to help you along the way.

So my intent is to lower the learning curve from where you are to where you want to go—even if we never meet in person.

I always enjoy the opportunity to share this idea with someone else.

Not only because I've invested so much time into it, but because I believe the potential ripple effect can make a significant difference in a lot of lives.

From a young age I admired entrepreneurs and their ability to create value where there appeared to be nothing -- the greatest separator being how an entrepreneur thinks.

And as I began studying entrepreneurs and launching businesses of my own, I read everything I could get my hands on.

So books, combined with real-world experience, enhanced my understanding of subjects while providing context for the situations I encountered.

Ultimately, books developed me into a better entrepreneur.

I added every book recommended to me to an ongoing list until one day, my list grew to over 1,000 books -- yup, 1,000.

I stopped and thought three things:

• There was no way I could read all of these books and build a company in the same lifetime.
• Not every one of these books could be that good.
• And ... perhaps most important, what books were the most relevant for me in my current phase of entrepreneurship?

And so began the design process of what would become Readar: helping entrepreneurs find the right book to read next.
